About
About Staysion
Staysion is an independent travel journal. Every guide is built to answer the questions travellers actually ask — with specific numbers, honest trade-offs, and no filler.
How we make our guides
Each guide starts from the questions people genuinely search for, not from a template. Before writing, we check the facts that change year to year — visa and entry rules, seasonal windows, transport options, and current price ranges — so the advice holds up when you actually travel.
Drafting is AI-assisted and then reviewed against the editorial standards below before anything is published. We favour concrete data — temperature and rainfall figures, travel times, price tiers — over vague impressions, and we revise guides when the facts on the ground change.
Our editorial standards
- Specific over vague. Every claim is anchored to a number, a place name, a date, or a range — not adjectives.
- Honest over promotional. We name the downsides, the overrated, and what to skip. A guide that only praises a place isn't useful.
- No clichés. You won't find “hidden gems,” “bucket lists,” or “stunning” here. Plain, direct language only.
- Accurate images. A photo must show the actual place it illustrates. We never use a different beach, island, or landmark as a stand-in.
- Independence. Affiliate links never change a recommendation (see the disclosure below).
The Henrik Vinter byline
Our guides are published under the Henrik Vinter byline — the journal's editorial voice. The approach is Scandinavian-direct: it respects your time, acknowledges real trade-offs, and never pads a paragraph to hit a word count.
Affiliate disclosure
Staysion may earn a commission when you book through some of our links, at no extra cost to you. Those commissions help fund the journal — but they never influence which destinations or stays we recommend, or what we say about them.
